ASA/WISHH Hosts Seminars in Pakistan on Nutrition and Feed in Aquaculture

ASA’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) program and Kansas State University (KSU) recently hosted two seminars on nutrition and feed technology in aquaculture as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture-funded “FEEDing Pakistan” program. Technical support for the seminars was provided by KSU and Dr. Chhorn Lim, an Aquaculture Nutritionist at Auburn University. R.S.N. Janjua, ASA/WISHH Country Representative, organized the seminars in Multan, Pakistan, and at the University of Veterinary and Animal Science’s Pattoki Campus.

Dr. Lim provided technical support to feed millers and educated seminar participants about the usage of soy in feed production for the aquaculture sector. The seminars also covered feeding management using extruded feeds, balances of feed for sustainable production management, fish nutrition focused on tilapia, and tilapia feeding regimens.

The seminars were attended by more than 110 progressive fish farmers, fishery department officials, extension staff, members of academia, students, feed millers and traders.
