Myanmar is home to many young entrepreneurs who are looking for concepts for business development or investment opportunities—and soy foods may provide the new possibilities they’re looking for.
Over 30 attendees from the private sector, soymilk and tofu manufacturers, financial institutions, university staff and trade associations gathered in mid-March at a forum organized by the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH), to hear more on the many new business opportunities in soy foods.
Agenda topics included financing options, the different ways soybeans can be used in human foods, the role Burmese universities might have and attendee networking opportunities.
Future forums are planned as consumer interest in soy foods continues to grow.
The forum’s funding was provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Services’ (FAS) Foreign Market Development (FMD) program.
