Several Members of Congress have contacted the Surface Transportation Board (STB) to raise concerns with the ability of some power plants in the Upper Midwest to get adequate coal supplies, in the face of rail service disruptions that are occurring in that region. The Dairyland Power Cooperative, which provides power to residents in in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois, expressed concern over BNSF rail delivery problems that could result in some plants being short on coal and the company being reliant on more costly truck shipments.
