Emails Needed to Senate Offices in Support of Roberts/Stabenow GMO Labeling Compromise

Jun 28, 2016

With the introduction of the compromise on GMO labeling from Senate Chairman Pat Roberts and Ranking Member Debbie Stabenow on Thursday, so begins the both big and important task of turning up the volume on the Senate to ensure that we get the result we want on this bill when it comes to the floor for a vote next week. The American Soybean Association (ASA) fully supports the Roberts/Stabenow bill, and will work each Senate office to encourage their support as well. ASA loaded an email template into the Soy Action Center for you and farmers in your states to contact their Senate offices directly. Once the Coalition for Safe, Affordable Food has its toll-free number up and running on Monday, we will add that information to the daily action alerts that we will send. In the meantime, please get an early jump on contacting your Senators.

This is an effort in which we need all 25,000 members engaged, as each of us knows the importance of this technology to the industry. Please do not assume that simply because your Senator hails from a farm state that he or she is on board.

Emails and calls are needed to all 60 soy-state Senate offices repeatedly until this legislation passes. Additionally, please pass on any intelligence you gather in response to your contacts with the ASA DC team, as it will help us greatly in our work on this end.
