EU Anti-Dumping Duties on U.S. Biodiesel Up for Review

Jul 17, 2014

On Thursday, July 10, 2014, the European Union (EU) Commission initiated “expiry” reviews of the anti-dumping and countervailing duty (CVD) measures put in place against United States origin biodiesel in July 2009, despite objections and arguments by the U.S. biodiesel industry that such measures were unjustified. The duties/tariffs were originally scheduled to expire after five years, which would have been on Friday, July 11, 2014. However, because the EU Commission has initiated the “expiry” review, the duties assigned in July 2009 will now remain in place while the expiry reviews are conducted. The National Biodiesel Board (NBB) will challenge this review and the ASA supports the efforts to provide U.S. biodiesel with fair access to the EU market.
