Extension of Comment Period for Proposed Rule Revoking Soy Protein/CHD Authorized Health Claim

Jan 18, 2018

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently proposed revoking the unqualified health claim regarding soy protein and coronary heart disease (CHD) and changing it to a qualified claim.

If your state is planning to submit comments on the agency’s proposed rule to revoke the authorized health claim on the relationship between soy protein and reduced risk of coronary heart disease, please note that the FDA is providing an additional 60 days for public comment. The deadline for comments has been extended from Tuesday, Jan. 16 to March 19, 2018.

The notice to extend the comment period went on advance display Friday Jan. 12, 2018 here.

Please reach out to the American Soybean Association (ASA) Washington office if you have any questions.
