In a letter to cooperators last Thursday, USDA-FAS Administrator Phil Karsting informed ASA that previously-allocated, unexpended funds from previous years may be used, subject to USDA approval, for the 2014 program year.
As Karsting pointed out in the letter, the move is only a temporary remedy and does not provide new FY2014 funding. “Such funding depends on the passage of a new Farm, Food and Jobs Bill. Absent new funding, participants will be unable to conduct the full range of market promotion activities they have planned for 2014,” he said.
