The American Soybean Association/World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (ASA/WISHH) this week hosted a Ghanaian trade team participating in a Global Based Initiative organized by the U.S.A. Poultry and Egg Export Council and funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The Ghanaian trade team consisted of regulators, government officials and private sector individuals involved in poultry and feed policy development and activities in Ghana.
ASA/WISHH staff provided the Ghanaian delegation with an overview of WISHH activities and organized a meeting with the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA). The group traveled to the farm of Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) Chairman and WISHH Committee secretary Daryl Cates. Cates was joined by several other farmers, including ISA Director David Droste and Ken Hartman, president of the Illinois Corn Growers Association.
The opportunity to interact with representatives from the corn and soy industries provided an improved understanding of commodity and feed production in the U.S. The delegation also had the opportunity to learn how feed ingredients are used to create a finished product while visiting the Purina feed mill in Nashville, Ill.
