The House Ag Subcommittee on Commodity Exchanges, Energy & Credit held a hearing Thursday titled The Next Farm Bill: Rural Development & Energy Programs.
The American Soybean Association (ASA) is actively involved in establishment and implementation of several Energy Title programs, including the Bioenergy Program, the Biobased Market Program and the Biodiesel Education Program. ASA continues to support these programs and is submitting a statement for the hearing record to register our interest and support for their continued authorization and funding.
Witnesses at the hearing touted the benefits of the various Energy Title programs in the development of biofuels and biobased products and urged the committee to continue them in the next Farm Bill. The hearing also covered Rural Development programs that provide electricity, water and broadband services to rural communities.
