As the U.S and China prepare for the upcoming Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT), the American Soybean Association (ASA) worked with Members of the House and Senate to send letters to President Barack Obama, urging the administration to raise ongoing concerns regarding China’s biotechnology approval process.
The letters recognize the gains the Obama Administration achieved over the past three years, but points out that there is still work to be done. China’s biotech regulatory regime continues to lack transparency and predictability in the approval process. China is a significant trading partner for U.S. agriculture and ensuring continued high-level engagement is essential for positive trade relationships.
The JCCT events are scheduled for Nov. 21-23.
