The Mid-Atlantic Soybean Association (MASA) welcomes Vince Phillips as the new executive director of the association.  Phillips replaces Steve Connelly, who has accepted a position within the Maryland Department of Agriculture.

Phillips has extensive and successful experience in supervising government affairs and association management. Besides managing MASA, he also serves as association manager for the Pennsylvania State Council of Farm Organizations, and advocates for the Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Association, the Crop Insurance Agents Association of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Association of Professional Soil Scientists.

Before coming to Pennsylvania in 1989, Phillips worked in the nation’s capital as press secretary for the former National-American Wholesale Grocers Association (now part of FMI) and was a Reagan Administration political appointee in the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the Office of Rural Development Policy and later for the Secretary of Agriculture.

“We are delighted to have someone with Vince’s outstanding record of advocacy for Agriculture join MASA,” said Mid-Atlantic Soybean Association President Larry Breech.  “We look forward to growing consumer and public sector understanding of the importance of our soybean industry.”
