Missouri Soybean Association Leading Effort to Protect Agriculture

Jun 19, 2014

On August 5, Missouri voters will decide on a constitutional amendment protecting farmers’ ability to raise crops and livestock today and into the future. The Missouri Soybean Association is currently working to raise awareness of Amendment 1 in partnership with other agricultural organizations by connecting with elected officials through town halls and other community events to educate all sectors involved with agriculture – from producers to consumers. The Missouri Soybean Association is a founding member of Missouri Farmers Care. This coalition, Missouri Farmers Care, was formed in the aftermath of Proposition B to protect agriculture from outside special interests and to reconnect farmers and consumers through education and outreach efforts. MFC_Logo

“Out-of-state animal rights groups are trying to dictate how we farm,” said Gary Wheeler, Missouri Soybean Association CEO/Executive Director. “We must once again prove Missouri farm families know what’s best for Missouri agriculture.”

Opposition is mounting and we are now taking our grassroots campaign to the next level. Plans are underway to expand our targeted advertising and raise the bar from direct mail and radio spots to television. Missouri farmers have invested in this fight steadily, with more than 1,000 farm families signing on as campaign partners at www.mofarmerscare.com.

This is an ongoing battle across the country and these attacks affect all of agriculture, regardless of the states in which they are fought. Missouri Soybean Association is asking for farmers and Missouri citizens to help in protecting the long-term stability and success of our industry with a as a partner and with a contribution to Missouri Farmers Care. We are in the final six weeks before the vote and need your support.
