Mongolian Dairy Feeding Trial Produces Positive Results

Oct 24, 2013

ASA/WISHH, along with its local partner V.E.T. Net, recently completed dairy feeding trials in Mongolia at the Mongolian Armed Forces livestock and Border Forces farms with positive results. Cows that were fed U.S. soybean meal had an increase in milk production from 4.52 to 5.34 liters per day/cow (an 18% increase) and experienced a 9% weight gain.  The feeding trial results will be shared with other military farms and used by V.E.T. Net with its continuing education courses and model herder dairies.

The soybean meal was funded through the USDA Quality Samples Program, with technical support funding provided by the Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee and USDA Market Access Program (MAP).Other components of the feeding trial

ASA/WISHH and V.E.T. Net continue to look at new programs and activities to promote the use of soybean meal to the Mongolian livestock industry.
