After years of sitting idle, soy once again runs through the Insta-Pro 2000R extruder in Nicaragua.
The World Soy Foundation (WSF) recently released a study of the humanitarian food aid market in Nicaragua completed by the National Soybean Research Laboratory (NSRL), and funded by the Illinois Soybean Association.
The purpose of the study was to analyze the Nicaraguan market to provide possible next steps for WSF partners in Nicaragua interested in re-commissioning an Insta-Pro 2000R extruder to be used to produce soy-based foods to reduce malnutrition in the country.
Until last August the equipment had sat idle in a Nicaraguan government storage facility. The study provides WSF partners in Nicaragua the knowledge they need about the equipment and the market to make a final decision about where to place the extruder. WSF was excited to see soy once again run through the extruder and partners were energized by the possibilities the equipment offers.
