In briefings to the House and the Senate, as well as to several staffers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), staff came with informed questions and many stayed after to speak with both ASA Chairman Richard Wilkins and USB Director Linda Burrier.
American Soybean Association (ASA) Chairman Richard Wilkins and United Soybean Board (USB) Director Linda Burrier traveled to Washington last week to brief congressional staff on the basics of soybean production and how sustainability factors in to the decisions that soybean farmers make at each stage in the production process. Additionally, Wilkins and Burrier spoke to the essential nature of biotechnology and how a more streamlined approvals process can help farmers be more sustainable. In briefings to the House and the Senate, as well as to several staffers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), staff came with informed questions and many stayed after to speak with both Wilkins and Burrier.
The briefings were funded by USB, and will include a second series to coincide with harvest season in the fall.
