Soy Issues Forum Includes Conversations about Rural Broadband and Biodiesel

Jul 16, 2020

Rural broadband and biodiesel were the focus of the annual Soybean Issues Forum sponsored by Bayer Crop Science, Bunge, REG, and Syngenta.

The forum provides an opportunity for soybean growers to engage on topics critical to the success of the soybean industry.

Shirley Bloomfield, CEO of NTCA—the Rural Broadband Association—joined the program, providing an update on the vital work and advocacy taking place to ensure rural communities have access to secure, reliable, and fast internet.

Donnell Rehagen, CEO of the National Biodiesel Board, talked with the group about the current status of biodiesel in the U.S., as well as the RFS and other key issues.

Program sponsors Bayer, Bunge, REG, and Syngenta also provided updates.

Typically held as part of the July ASA Board of Directors meeting, the program was held virtually this year on July 9. Approximately 70 soybean growers, industry members, ASA directors and staff participated in the program.
