The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently released final 2016 biodiesel and renewable diesel numbers. The numbers show that the U.S. is producing record gallons of American made biodiesel, however foreign imports of biodiesel and renewable diesel are capturing over a third of the market, limiting the potential for additional economic benefits to U.S. producers.

The American Soybean Association (ASA) is actively engaged with industry partners on the U.S. EPA’s implementation of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and urging Congress to extend and restructure the biodiesel tax credit to promote further domestic biodiesel production. These efforts will continue in 2017 with the new Administration and Congress, which is seeking to enact comprehensive tax reform.
