U.S. Soy Grower-Leaders Participate in 2019 IOPD

Jun 27, 2019

(From left to right): ASA CEO Ryan Findlay, USSEC’s Roz Leeck and ASA President Davie Stephens wrap up the 2019 International Oilseed Producers Dialogue with a tour of soybeans near Sittingbourne, England.

ASA partnered this week with USSEC to represent U.S. soy at the International Oilseeds Producers Dialogue (IOPD) meeting in London.

The conference provides participants with the opportunity to meet with other global oilseed producers to discuss issues of common interest and develop partnerships that can provide support for key market access issues.

In addition to building international markets, U.S. soy needs market access for trade. IOPD provides a chance for U.S. soy delegates to discuss international trade dynamics and build relationships with like-minded organizations from around the world. Grower-leader involvement is critical to this effort.

USSEC Vice Chair and ASA Director Monte Peterson, along with ASA President Davie Stephens, presented the U.S. update during the meeting and engaged with other oilseed farmers and delegates on key issues for the U.S. soy industry – innovation, international trade environment and market access.

Representatives from Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Paraguay, and United Kingdom also attended the conference. Countries shared perspectives on key issues, including international trade and the global regulatory environment for new breeding technologies. Through robust dialogue to address common challenges, these countries are working together to meet the needs of the future.
