USB Proactive in Conveying Safety of U.S. Soy Meal, Monitoring Foreign Swine Disease Outbreaks

Sep 27, 2018

United Soybean Board (USB) has been monitoring for weeks a recent outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in Chinese herds, which has subsequently been confirmed in parts of Western Europe. There are no reports of ASF in the United States, but USB is encouraging U.S. pork producers to practice extra care with imported meal or synthetic additives and to buy more U.S. soybean meal to prevent spread to the United States. With poultry and livestock accounting for nearly 97 percent of the domestic consumption of U.S. soy, the U.S. soy family, including ASA, will continue to monitor the outbreak situation closely.
