USDA’s Largest Annual Meeting Features ASA/WISHH’s Results in Emerging Markets

Feb 22, 2018

ASA/WISHH Regional Director-Africa Josh Neiderman presents at USDA’s annual Ag Outlook Forum.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) selected the American Soybean Association’s (ASA) World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) to speak about emerging markets for U.S. feed and meat at its annual Ag Outlook Forum that focused on the “Roots of Prosperity” theme.

The 94th annual Ag Outlook organizers requested ASA/WISHH Regional Director-Africa Josh Neiderman present on a panel alongside Pioneer’s Chief Economist Steve Elmore and Michigan State Agricultural Economist Tom Reardon.

Neiderman’ s presentation in Crystal City, Va. featured how visionary U.S. soybean growers created WISHH to serve as their trailblazer for trade as developing country populations and incomes create more demand. He explained how sales of U.S. soy have risen in Africa and how WISHH supply chain partners in developing countries are finding new business opportunities as they offer more high-quality feeds and foods made with U.S. soy. Neiderman also described how the USDA-funded, ASA/WISHH-implemented AMPLIFIES Ghana project is improving Ghana’s poultry feed production capacity and increasing efficiency in poultry value chains.
