WISHH Committee Meets in Washington, D.C.

Mar 21, 2013

ASA’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) Committee met for a half-day meeting on March 13 at the Washington Court Hotel. Thirteen grower-leaders from nine states attended the meeting, along with WISHH staff, contractors, and ex-officio WISHH Committee members Drew Klein of the U.S. Soybean Export Council and Mary Lou Smith of the United Soybean Board. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service also participated in parts of the meeting.

The committee approved a revised FY13 budget of $10,999,529, which includes $920,372 from Qualified State Soybean Boards, or 8.4 percent of the total budget. The group also heard reports about ongoing activities, a grower-leader travel opportunity to Central America in late June, and the election for at-large WISHH committee members at the July 11 meeting in Washington, D.C.
