JF Beauchesne, the AMPLIFIES Ghana Chief of Party, meets with project partner ADRA to make plans for the start of activities.

The American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (ASA/WISHH) headed to Accra, Ghana this week to discuss the ASA/WISHH AMPLIFIES Ghana and ACDI/VOCA Ghana Poultry Projects.

The two projects are U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) funded Food for Progress initiatives with an aim to develop the Ghanaian poultry and feed sectors.

WISHH Director of the Africa Division Erica Morrow met with USDA representatives, local government agencies and other project partners. Other organizations in attendance included, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and representatives of the USDA funded Analytical Support Services and Evaluations for Sustainable Systems (ASSESS) Project.

The meetings provided an opportunity to discuss the activities to be implemented by ASA/WISHH and ACDI/VOCA, and to avoid any duplication of efforts.

The AMPLIFIES Ghana project budget is approximately $15 million over five years, and includes monetizing U.S. soybean meal and U.S. soybean oil. ASA will provide technical assistance to Ghanaian feed mills and thousands of Ghanaian poultry farmers to raise the level of efficiency and economic return for the poultry value chain.
