WISHH and NBB Host World Food Day Preparation Webinar for States

Oct 10, 2013

FoodDay

ASA’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) Program and the National Biodiesel Board (NBB) teamed to conduct a webinar that gave state soybean organizations the latest positive messaging on how U.S. soy sustainably feeds and fuels a growing global population.

The October 8 webinar provided participants from 11 states with information they can use related to World Food Day on October 16. ASA Communications Director Patrick Delaney and NBB Communications Director Jessica Robinson welcomed and described their appreciation for the work of state soybean staff. NBB Sustainability Director Don Scott presented the latest information about biodiesel sustainability and U.S. biodiesel’s potential positives for food supplies. WISHH Executive Director Jim Hershey described how WISHH builds links in supply and value chains that make available affordable, nutritious and delicious soy foods in developing countries. WISHH consultant Karen Edwards shared the latest United Nations data that some 842 million—or roughly one in eight people--are chronically undernourished. Sarah Even, Dan Lemke and Brad Parker, communications officers from South Dakota, Minnesota and Kansas respectively, described how NBB and WISHH had assisted their communications programs. The webinar also included a brainstorming session about how ASA, WISHH and NBB can assist state communications efforts.
