In attendance were U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) Poultry consultant Khalid Benabdeljelil and Dr. Sam Rochell, of the University of Arkansas, along with WISHH Executive Director Jim Hershey, Program Manager for Africa Chris Slemp, West Africa Regional Consultant Mamadou Bousso and Regional Director for Africa, Josh Neiderman.
The group discussed upcoming technical assistance in support of poultry feeding demonstrations to be held in Senegal with several stakeholder companies. The demonstrations are designed to compare the advantages of U.S. soybean meal against South American product currently being used in the market.
WISHH recently shipped 18 MT of soybean meal from Zeeland Farms in Michigan for the demonstration, which will be distributed to local companies and utilized under the guidance of Benabdeljelil and Rochell. The demonstrations are scheduled to begin in March alongside aquaculture trials, culminating in results conference slated for September.
WISHH supported the travel of representatives from Senegal, Ghana and Nigeria for the IPPE in Atlanta, where they were connected with U.S. raw material and equipment suppliers focused on the poultry and feed milling industries.
