World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) Asian Division Director Alan F. Poock traveled to Myanmar, Cambodia and Thailand for trade servicing and other meetings last week.
Poock spent four days in Myanmar, where he met with food companies that participated in the June trade team that attended the INTSOY course and met with North Dakota exporters in the Fargo area. He also met with Winrock on future collaboration and the vice-hairman of the Myanmar Edible Oil Dealer’s Association.

WISHH was part of a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) sponsored Global Based Initiative (GBI) in Cambodia at the CAMFOODS show in Siem Reap. Cambodia is a growing market in Southeast Asia and WISHH plans to conduct a USDA Emerging Markets Program (EMP) funded assessment on the human foods and animal feed sectors in FY16. While in Cambodia, Poock met with the new Foreign Agricultural Services (FAS) Agricultural Attaché Gerald Smith.
Before returning home, Poock will travel to Bangkok, Thailand to meet with FAS, which covers Myanmar. Funding for this trip was provided by USDA through the Emerging Markets Program (EMP) and Market Access Program (MAP).
