ASA's World Initiative for Soy in Human Health’s (WISHH) “Soy in Meat Applications” technical consultant, Marcus Hamilton, recently traveled to Kenya and Uganda to provide his expertise to the local industry. While in Kenya, Mr. Hamilton visited multiple food processing companies to promote the use of soy isolates in the extension of processed meat products. In Uganda, he promoted the use of isolates in the hotel industry.
Hamilton provided one-on-one consultations to management teams at local companies, and also performed a demonstration of the use of soy in the preparation of meals at the Hotel Africana in Kampala. These consultations and demonstrations have directly benefitted the demand for high-quality, value-added soybean products imported from the United States through local supply chain partners. Hamilton’s travel was supported by Global Broad Based Initiative (GBI) and Market Access Program (MAP) funding through the United States Department of Agriculture.
