The WISHH Regional Director of the Africa Division, Josh Neiderman, leads a discussion on activity planning for the remainder of 2017.
The American Soybean Association World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (ASA/WISHH) staff is spending the week updating their plans for market development activities in sub-Saharan Africa for the remainder of 2017.
WISHH’s regional director, Josh Neiderman traveled from Accra, Ghana to meet with St. Louis staff and discuss market development strategies. WISHH plans to continue its promotion of U.S. soy products in the food industry, but will also emphasize further development of the animal feed industry with an aquaculture and poultry project covering Senegal and Nigeria, technical assistance for feed manufacturers in Burkina Faso, and samples of U.S. product for the manufacturing of feed and oil in Kenya.
WISHH finalized the allocations of QSSB funding from four states targeting African activities for a total of more than $100,000, in addition to general project management funding from close to 20 QSSBs. The team made additional plans for spending more than $1 million of USDA funds for market development activities. WISHH is also planning for five trade teams to participate in trainings, trade shows, exporter meetings and farm visits before the end of 2017.
