WISHH Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer James Bernhardt, Michael Mensah (M&E Manager) and Philip Annankra (Field Monitoring Officer for our Tamale office) and Adventist Development and Relief Agency’s (ADRA) Post-Harvest Technical Officers (PHTO) meet with crop growers in the Northern Region to discuss progress made on a recently constructed post-harvest drying and storage facility.
The American Soybean Association’s (ASA) World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) recently welcomed James Bernhardt to the team.
As WISHH’s Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer, Bernhardt will work with staff to continue building systems and processes to support measurement of program outcomes. Bernhardt has experience implementing and evaluating programs in the developing world and serves as an adjunct instructor at Washington University in St. Louis.
He will work primarily on WISHH’s USDA-funded AMPLIFIES Ghana Food for Progress project, which has an operating budget of $15 million over five years. The purpose of this project is to improve feed and poultry production in Ghana, a market that already imports U.S. soybeans.
Bernhardt traveled to Ghana last month to learn more about project activities and meet with M&E staff at the AMPLIFIES Accra office to discuss the project’s evaluation plan and current management information systems (MIS). While in country, he also visited program sites in Tamale, Sunyani and Kumasi, met with poultry farmers and farmer based organizations (FBOs), toured soybean and maize storage facilities, attended a finance training for poultry farmers, and visited feed mills and feed demonstration sites.
