The World Soy Foundation Celebrates the End of One Acre Challenge Year and Kicks off the Next

Oct 02, 2014

As of Oct. 1, the World Soy Foundation (WSF) is kicking off a new year of Acre Challenge. But first, we want to celebrate the end of last year’s Acre Challenge campaign. We set a high goal of $100,000 for the year in funds raised through the Acre Challenge—one of our biggest yet. Since the Acre Challenge was created by farmers for farmers, the donation to the Challenge (from a farmer or a soy family member) is typically the “value of an acre of soybeans,” or yield multiplied by price. wsf2

This past year (Oct. 1, 2013-Sept.30, 2014), we saw nearly 570 donors Accept the Challenge and, thanks to their support, we were able reach and surpass our goal by approximately 1 percent! It is not without the support of those 570 individuals that we could continue reducing malnutrition through the power of soy!

Their gifts are helping to support activities such as a school and SoyCow operation in Guatemala providing soymilk to young girls before class; mobilizing an extruder in Nicaragua with the potential to feed thousands of people and providing support to a community in South Africa for a sustainable soy-based foods business that provides soymilk to over 450 children!

The WSF would like to send a BIG thank you to all who “Accepted the Challenge”—you have helped the WSF’s Acre Challenge have its most successful year yet! Now, we’re looking forward to seeing what exciting things we can accomplish this year with your help! Be on the lookout for some exciting new things coming this month through the end of December.

Also, be watching for the big announcement on the winner of the “Top Supporting State” for last year’s Acre Challenge!
