Earlier this week we recognized World Hunger Day—a day to celebrate sustainable solutions to ending extreme hunger and poverty. As a nonprofit striving to reduce malnutrition through the power of soy, the World Soy Foundation (WSF) wanted to be a part of the celebration on May 28.
To do this, we hosted a Twitter Q&A titled “International School Feeding: Soy as a Hunger Solution.” The discussion included answers from industry experts including: ASA/WISHH Executive Director Jim Hershey, Registered Dietician and nutrition expert Cade Fields-Gardner, Senior Manager External Affairs at DuPont Nutrition & Health Kent Holt and USSEC Regional Manager-Americas Office Nayeli Vilanova.
The discussion included topics such as the effectiveness of international school feeding programs, soy proteins in diets, training and use of soyfoods in schools and how these programs can help HIV/AIDS affected countries.
In the coming days, watch for a summary of the conversation to be posted to our website. To learn more about #WorldHungerDay, click here.
