The World Soy Foundation Welcomes the Grain Farmers of Ontario

Sep 04, 2014

For over two years, the World Soy Foundation has been working with SunOpta, a Canadian based corporation, to bring soy Grain farmers Ontarionutrition to kids in need around the world. The most recent joint venture was a project in Selepe, South Africa—an area where 60 percent of households earn less than $9 per month. The project provides vital soy protein to those living in the surrounding community using a SoyCow processing machine, but the WSF has had a vision to expand the reach of the project to two local schools, reaching more than 450 children.

The Grain Farmers of Ontario have jumped on board in support of this vision for Selepe. The support of the farmers of Ontario will not only help the WSF improve upon and expand the Selepe project, it will help engage the local community in nutrition discussions and raise awareness about the power of soy.

The WSF is excited to welcome the Grain Farmers of Ontario to our list of supporters and is grateful for the opportunity to partner together to reduce malnutrition through the power of soy! A special thanks to these farmers as they accepted the challenge to become a part of the solution to the world’s greatest health risk, hunger!
