This week, we are excited to recognize and feature Jared Hagert of North Dakota! Jared and his wife farm wheat, dry edible beans—pinto beans, navy beans, dark red kidney beans—soybeans, and corn in Emerado, North Dakota. Jared is a fourth generation farmer and started farming in 1995 while he attended North Dakota State University. With that, Jared added, “Go Bison!”

On his farm, he also runs a Certified Seed Conditioning facility where the majority of his soybeans and wheat is processed through. After processing, the product is wholesaled and retailed to area farmers and seed retailers.

Currently, Jared serves on the United Soybean Board as Treasurer. The United Soybean Board administers soybean checkoff activities focusing on research and market development. Their efforts are directed by the Board, of which Jared is a part of. The Board is composed of 69 volunteer farmer-leaders often nominated by their state-level organizations, called Qualified State Soybean Boards (QSSBs). The nominees are appointed to the board by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.

We recognize Jared as a dedicated supporter of the World Soy Foundation—particularly the WSF Acre Challenge Campaign. When asked why Jared chooses to support the Foundation, he says:

“I support the World Soy Foundation because I feel that it is important to help reduce the protein deficiencies that are prevalent worldwide. It is also a great way to show the positive impacts that soybean producers can make towards that goal.”
