The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced late last week an extension of the comment deadline on the Trump Administration’s formal intent to repeal the Waters of the United States rule. The new deadline is Sept. 27. The American Soybean Association (ASA) supports the administration’s steps to withdraw the rule and in June, called the withdrawal notice “a significant step toward greater regulatory certainty for soybean farmers.” ASA remains ready and willing to engage with EPA and Administrator Scott Pruitt to help build a practical and workable plan to safeguard water quality in our nation’s growing regions.
