Sen. Mark Pryor Assumes Ag Approps Chairmanship

Jan 31, 2013

pic-pryor-013113Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) assumed the chair of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee, which writes budgets for USDA and the Food and Drug Administration.

The new position for Sen. Pryor, who is up for reelection next year, restores a bit of the clout on agricultural programs that his home state of Arkansas lost when then-Senate Agricultural Committee Chair Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) lost her bid for reelection in 2010. Sen. Pryor fills the seat vacated by the retired Herb Kohl (D-Wis.).
