Senate Passes Budget Without Attacks on Crop Insurance, Farm Bill Programs

Apr 01, 2015

Last week, the Senate passed its budget by a vote of 52-46. ASA called attention to five amendments opposed by ASA that would have created barriers to access to the federal crop insurance program, as well as to commodity programs administered through the farm bill. As you know, ASA opposes any attempt to re-open the farm bill, or to reduce the funding for any farm bill programs set forth in the law.

ASA is pleased to announce that none of these amendments were brought to the floor for a vote. We appreciate the leaders, members and state staff who reached out to your Senate offices to convey ASA’s priorities, and we will keep you updated as the House and the Senate begin negotiations on the issue.
