Soy Growers Urge Trump Administration to Support ‘Innovative and Science-Based’ Decisions for Ag

The American Soybean Association (ASA) and several other agriculture representatives urged President Donald Trump to prioritize issues of great importance to the industry and consumers everywhere, in a letter earlier this week.

“The policy and regulatory environment your Administration establishes can ensure that agricultural innovation flourishes and American farmers are able to meet the food production goals necessary to feed billions more people,” the groups state in the letter. “We are ready to provide the White House and the Executive Branch Departments and Agencies, as well as Congress, with policy concepts that foster stability in the U.S. agriculture economy with a strong and predictable farm safety net and promotes American competitiveness through research; marketability and trade of agricultural commodities; rural economic growth; and plant, animal, and environmental health, among many other things.”

The letter reiterated the significant challenges the agriculture industry faces and how important it is for the U.S. government to support innovation and science-based regulatory decisions to make sure farmers have the tools needed produce sustainable food and meet demands of a growing population.
