Soy Growers Urge Unions and Ports to Avoid Future Trade Disruptions

Mar 24, 2016

The American Soybean Association (ASA) and over 100 organizations representing manufacturers, farmers and agribusinesses, wholesalers, retailers, importers, exporters, distributors, transportation and logistics providers and other supply chain stakeholders sent a letter urging the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) to begin early discussions on a new contract and avoid the disruptions that occurred during the 2014 contract negotiations. The last labor dispute led to major disruptions at West Coast ports, damaged trade and created ripple effects throughout the country. A full copy of the letter can be viewed here.
