Ghanaian bakers observe the quality of the soy flour breads they learned how to bake with the instruction of soy foods consultant Suresh Itapu. After having the opportunity to bake with the U.S. defatted soy flour, these Ghanaian bakers have requested additional supplies from Yedent Agro Enterprises.
The American Soybean Association’s (ASA) World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) continues to develop the U.S. soybean market in Ghana.
ASA/WISHH Regional Director – Africa Josh Neiderman visited Ghana this month to work with local stakeholders. Neiderman met with the local supply chain partner Yedent Agro Enterprises, a recent recipient of a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) sponsored Quality Samples Program container of mixed value added soybean products. Yedent is currently working in the local baking, blended cereal and textured soy protein sectors as it moves toward the commissioning of its second Insta Pro extrusion line in July.
Neiderman met with the local USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) post to discuss upcoming trade team opportunities, including the Cochran School Meals program and the Northern Crops Institute feed processing course. Neiderman also supported the efforts of CBI, who is conducting sales of U.S. commodities in support of the USDA funded AMPLIFIES Food for Progress poultry feed value chain development program.
Additionally, several Ghanaians are scheduled to participate in various additional trade teams in the coming months, including the Global Trade Exchange in Kansas City, Mo., the INTSOY program in Fargo, N.D. and a feed manufacturing course at Kansas State University.
