WISHH Introduces New AMPLIFIES Project Leader to Team in Ghana

Dec 15, 2016

The American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (ASA/WISHH) Executive Director Jim Hershey was in Accra, Ghana this week with Ligaya Diaz, incoming chief of party for WISHH’s U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) funded Food for Progress poultry and feed project in Ghana.

Diaz has worked on other USDA funded projects in Asia and Africa, and is eager to bring her expertise to this multi-year, multi-million dollar project. The visitors worked with current Chief of Party J.F. Beauchesne and the local staff to understand activities, many of which are ramping up, thanks to recently completed monetization of U.S. soybean meal and U.S. rice. On Thursday, the management team met with the USDA Foreign Agriculture Services (FAS) Agricultural Counselor David Wolf to discuss the changing government in Ghana, the markets for soy and poultry and the transition at AMPLIFIES, which will take place in late January.
