WISHH and USSEC attend USAEDC Annual Meeting

Nov 21, 2013

ASA’s WISHH program sent management staff to Baltimore this week to attend the U.S. Agricultural Export Development Council (USAEDC). USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) personnel and U.S. commodity and food groups from around the country gathered in Baltimore for a conference and meetings.

USDA’s Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Michael Scuse addressed the crowd of more than 300 attendees to report that U.S. ag exports continue to be a bright spot in our nation’s trade, with close to $150 billion of agricultural products sold into export channels.

He mentioned soybeans and soybean products as being a top contributor to that number and the $39 billion trade surplus delivered by Agriculture. USSEC’s Dana Johnson was a speaker on a panel on sustainability, moderated by Christian Foster, Deputy Administrator, Office of Trade Programs.
