WISHH MYANMAR

(L-R) Dr. Riaz, Mr. Sein Thaung Oo of FOSTA and Matt Danuser discuss soybean processing and products.

Last week ASA’s WISHH Asian Division Director Alan F. Poock, travelled to Myanmar for trade servicing activities.  Joining Poock were Dr. Mian Riaz, an oilseed processing technical consultant and Matt Danuser, a North Dakota Soybean Council (NDSC) board member.

During the trip, seminars were held with the Myanmar Edible Oil Dealer’s Association (MEODA) and Food Science and Technology Association (FOSTA) on new processing technologies and the multiple uses of extruders.

Meetings were also held with the June 2015 trade team participants.  Many of these companies have received soy product samples for testing or quotes for extruders since the trip.

Funding for the Myanmar activities is provided by the USDA’s Emerging Markets Program (EMP).  Danuser’s trip was made possible through NDSC.
