On Wednesday, ASA/WISHH sponsored a seminar with the Myanmar Edible Oil Dealer’s Association (MEODA), which is the Myanmar oilseed processors association.
A wide range of speakers presented at the seminar, including Dr. Mian Riaz, an oilseed extrusion expert, Matt Danuser, a North Dakota soybean producer and Pamella Chaing, a trader with Kwee Gee corporation. ASA/WISHH Division Director Alan F. Poock was the seminar’s chair and presented on ASA/WISHH activities in the Asian region.
Bobby Richey, the FAS Minister Counselor, made opening remarks and welcomed the MEODA members to the seminar.
The idea for this seminar came from the Emerging Market Program (EMP) market assessment and a June 2015 ASA/WISHH organized trade team from Myanmar . Oilseed processing is an important industry in Myanmar and MEODA members are eager to learn more about new trends and the latest technologies.
Funding for this seminar was provided by the USDA’s EMP.
